Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Cornwell to the Library Board. This is Cornwell’s first term, which runs through January 31, 2021.
As a principal at RMC Architects where he has worked for 22 years, Cornwell helped design the WCLS Lynden Library facility for the City of Lynden in 2003. He has a long-standing commitment and interest in supporting and using libraries. “They embody what is positive and good about democracy and equality,” said Cornwell.
WCLS Executive Director Christine Perkins is looking forward to working with Cornwell. “Brad comes to the Board with a grounding in how libraries operate and we welcome his perspective as an architect and local business owner as WCLS focuses on our strategic plan,” said Perkins.
Cornwell joins the five-member volunteer WCLS Board of Trustees appointed by the Whatcom County Executive. The Board is responsible for budget oversight and setting policy for the Library System. Regular public meetings of the Library Board are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Meeting schedule, agendas, and minutes of previous meetings are available online at WCLS.org.
