What’s up with all the old industrial land along Bellingham’s waterfront? Get familiar with a cleanup site along Bellingham Bay that is contaminated from past operations treating pulp and paper at the GP West Lignin Parcel site. The site will be cleaned up faster than most, and will one day feature affordable housing units and a YMCA facility. You can have a say in how the Washington State Department of Ecology might address the contaminants!

RE Sources is leading walking tour of the GP West Lignin Parcel on June 29th at 12-1:30 p.m. Meet at the West Laurel Street property gate, 300 W Laurel St, Bellingham. Learn more about the site at re-sources.org/Lignin. Staff from the Department of Ecology and the Port of Bellingham will be present to share information and answer questions on the Cleanup Action Plan out for public review and comment.

This tour will give you the background you need to have your voice heard during Ecology’s public comment period (accessible online June 20th-July 19th)
