The Jansen Art Center is pleased to present Sunday at 3, our Young Artist Concert Series, taking place on Sunday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m.
Produced by local music instructor, Jeri Mercer, Sunday at 3 is designed as a program to allow young, semi professional artists to perform work showcasing the advancement of their skills. “We hope to apply the talent slowly acquired alone, in the practice room, to the real world of the community, a live audience who will respond and encourage these young people,” says Mercer.
The concert will feature a performance by Bellingham’s own prodigy, pianist and composer, Henry From. Henry From has studied piano at the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) with Donna Lee-Leung since he was five years old. He studies violin with Bellingham teacher Sandra Payton, with whom he started lessons at age three. Henry made his orchestral debut playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 at the Biennial Conference of the Suzuki Association of the Americas in Minneapolis in 2016 and wrote his first complete sonata when he was 11 years old.
Sunday at 3 is a family friendly concert series, and students and families are encouraged to attend.
Admission to Sunday at 3 is by donation. All donations help the Jansen Art Center continue its youth programs such as Sunday at 3 and Kids Do Art! Spring Break (coming April 3-5). For more information, visit www.jansenartcenter.org.
