Are you ready to kick up your heels and dance? Come enjoy a free concert from Kuinka in Pioneer Park August 12 at 6 p.m. This event, Music in the Park, is part of the City of Ferndale’s “Summer of Fun,” a series of recreational activities in Ferndale’s parks.
Kuinka brings a fresh take to “Americana”, crackling with original, foot-stomping tunes and lively melodic harmonies. Brothers Zach and Nathan Hamer, along with Miranda Zickler and Jillian Walker, came together in 2014 to form a unique breed of string band. Their 2014 debut The Wild North, which propelled the band out of the woods and on to stages across the country, was followed by their 2016 breakout LP The Heartland.
After some critical success, they released their latest album, Stay Up Late under the name Kuinka, which is Finnish for “how”. Discover their inventive, joyous blend of classic bluegrass and modern songwriting at Pioneer Park.
Gates open at 6 p.m., music begins at 6:30 p.m. All ages welcome. More details available at www.cityofferndale.org/parks. Support for this event generously provided by Starvin Sam’s.
