Floating Lantern Pet Memorial

In observance of National Pet Memorial Day, Bellingham business Lifecycle Pet Cremation is organizing a memorial of floating lanterns to be set afloat in Lake Padden.

The event was inspired by similar memorials around the country, and is the first of its kind in Washington State. Participants reserve a rice paper lantern, which they can then decorate with their pet’s name, image or other remembrance at the event. Then, at 7:45 p.m., the lanterns are released into the lake.
