Cascade Cuts, a large organic wholesale nursery, opens to the public one day a year for a Sustainable Connections Food & Farming Program fundraiser on May 18th.

Get your garden going, reinvigorate your yard, and spruce up your front porch with an amazing array of flowers and plants – and all for a good cause! Peruse the 12 huge greenhouses packed with perennials, annuals, and colorful ornamentals. Discover new culinary and medicinal herbs, delight in dozens of varieties of lavender, basil, and more. It’s a treasure trove for budding landscapers, with an endless array of flowers and landscaping plants to choose from including outrageous hanging baskets, in dozens of varieties and colors. Vegetable starts will also be available, courtesy of Joe’s Garden, be sure to get there early to find your favorite tomato variety.

“This fundraiser is a wonderful way to get the plants you want for the season and support our local farmers,” says Sara Southerland, Food & Farming Program Manager. “Proceeds from years past have enabled us to expand our new farmer training program and keep the Whatcom County Farm Tour going. It’s the perfect win-win.”

In addition to plants, attendees can buy a raffle ticket to win a two night Airbnb stay at Full Bloom Farm, one of the wonderful local farms on Lummi Island. Tickets are $5 and will be available for sale at the event. The Cascade Cuts Plant Sale is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Sustainable Connections’ Food & Farming Program. All proceeds go to support Sustainable Connections local food and farmer initiatives.
