NORTH SOUND’S RENOWN REGATTA IS BACK
Labor Day Weekend 2021
The Bellingham Yacht Club will again host the Labor Day PITCH regatta known throughout Puget Sound for enticing sailors from Olympia to Canada in boats from Trans PACS 52s to One Designs.
“After missing last year’s regatta due to Covid, being able to run PITCH this year is especially meaningful to the members and racers at BYC,” explained Jim Haines, Fleet Captain. “The regatta’s motto is ‘Come for the wind, stay for the party!’, a good description of the weekend events of serious race competition and sailing celebrations.”
Arriving competitors will be greeted by the welcome boat with the traditional 6 pack gift on Friday September 3. Friday and Saturday nights there will be parties with live bands, food and drinks. Races will be run Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5.
BYC manages the competition in accordance with PHRF rules. PITCH is a Grand Prix qualifying race and 48N Top 25. One of the oldest regattas in the North Sound, PITCH stands for Pacific International Tonnage Championships, predating PHRF. The Bellingham Yacht Club is also a member of the North Sound Party Circuit.
