The Western Washington University Children’s Literature Conference is now in its 17th year! This event has become an annual tradition for many, where teachers and librarians, readers and writers gather to celebrate and learn about children’s literature.
Western Washington University will host four award-winning children’s and young adult book authors and illustrators from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Western’s Performing Arts Center as part of Western’s 17th Annual Children’s Literature Conference.
This year’s authors are Mac Barnett, Jason Chin, LeUyen Pham, and Ruta Sepetys.
Registration opens on Oct. 16. The early bird rate of $125 is available through Jan 16. Full registration is $175. Discounts are available for students, para-professionals, retired teachers, and Western employees.
The desire for this conference continues to be a day of inspiration. Perhaps one of the featured speakers will say something that affirms what you already believe about the role of children’s/young adult literature in all of our lives. Perhaps you’ll enter a conversation that motivates your teaching or ignites your writing. Perhaps you’ll take home a new book that extends an idea shared by an author, illustrator, or even the person sitting next to you. Whatever you experience during the conference, the organizers trust you will leave refreshed and newly inspired to read, write, teach, and learn with deeper intensity and joy.
