Spring dance to benefit the Community Boating Center @ The Majestic Ballroom

Spring dance to benefit the Community Boating Center @ The Majestic Ballroom

Enjoy an evening of live music by the Walrus, dancing, beer from Boundary Bay Brewery, and great food, all while raising funds for your local Community Boating Center!

All proceeds from the event support the CBC’s youth scholarships, which enable local youth to learn the boating skills necessary to access their incredible marine environment.

The Community Boating Center (CBC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that fosters small watercraft education, access, safe recreation, and marine stewardship on Bellingham Bay. Each spring dance is hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club, a nonprofit that promotes, advances and encourages the sport of Corinthian and amateur sailing, and who is a dedicated supporter of the CBC.

The Walrus is one of the Northwest’s favorite bands, and has been rocking clubs, parties, weddings, and outdoor events since 1995.

Call to Artists!!! Sylvia Center’s Pride Art Show & the Dragtopia Variety Show!
Submissions Due Thursday, May 30, 2019 by 5pm

We’re happy to announce that this will be our first Pride event for the Sylvia Center! This is our first Sylvia Center Dragtopia & Variety Show for All Ages! The Juried Art Show will feature artists that focus on the inclusion, awareness, support, and acceptance of the LGBTTQQIAAP & Queer community, and can include any of the following with this theme in mind – pride, family, equality, transformation, community, & love. The opening night of the art show will be held during the Bellingham Downtown Art Walk on July 5th, 6-9pm. There’s also the Dragtopia & Variety Show for All Ages – performance on Wednesday, July 10th, 7:30pm with auditions in May, TBD.

This show also promotes art organizations and facilities that incorporate inclusion and community for all genders, race, creed, religion, race, and backgrounds, in their facilities and programs. This will be the first Sylvia Pride event and will provide an entertaining array of events, such as Dragtopia & Variety Show for all ages on Wednesday, July 10th, raising funds for the Queer Youth Project with Northwest Youth Services, as well as hosting a strong program of educational workshops, speakers, panel discussions, and exhibit.

We invite Exhibiting artists, Performers, Presenters & Class Instructors with a passion for art created with the Queer & Pride theme to become a part of the first Pride event for Sylvia Center for the Arts. Attendees are inspired to take home innovative ideas that recognize the value of an all-inclusive group who support the Queer community.

To participate, email Sylviaprideshow@gmail.com , and fill out the application that’s sent to you for the Juried Art Show, and/or Presenters, Performers for the Dragtopia Variety Show for all ages.
