The Faith and Nature dialogue features Reverend Charis Weathers talking with William L. John, Xwelxwelat’se, Lummi Elder and Cultural Story-teller. Mr. John graduated from The Evergreen State College with a degree in Indigenous Tribal Studies and served as a motivational speaker and cross cultural orientation consultant, in addition to teaching the Lummi Language at both Ferndale High School and Northwest Indian College.

“How can faith inform a love for nature?” This is the central question driving the year-long series, Faith & Nature, hosted by the Whatcom Land Trust. Each episode features leaders from faith traditions such as Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Native American spirituality, Judaism, Atheism, and Unitarianism.

CASCADIA International Women’s Film Festival presents “End of the Line: The Women of Standing Rock” and “Honor Thy Mother” as part of the Pickford Film Center’s Doctober Film Festival on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2:30 p.m. Short film director Lucy Ostrancer of “Honor Thy Mother” will take part in a virtual Q&A with the audience after the films.
Tickets may be purchased through the Pickford; masks and proof of vaccination required.
