Van Gogh for the Youth - An Art Auction benefit for Growing Alliances @ Lightcatcher Museum

Garden of Life, Studio UFO – Trish Harding and friends, and Growing Alliances get together to create a fundraiser for the At-risk youth of Whatcom County.
Growing Alliances provides youth professional development training and gardening skills to foster responsibility and independence. Using mankind’s oldest way of bonding and creating strong friendships that carry through life, youth are taught to grow, cook and share food.
Join us for an evening of classical music, friends, friendly upbidding, Appys and beverages served.
Studio UFO, Trish Harding and friends, have created beautiful art pieces in a theme of After Van Gogh, for the Youth for this exciting live auction.
Garden of Life, Bellingham WA is a movement which supports gardening as a way to build community. Bern Jacqueline was inspired with Trish, to create the theme; Vincent Van Gogh was a struggling artist, a marginalized individual, similarly we respect the value put in by the donors, the artists and commit to supporting their effort by returning 30% of final sales to them.
Our goal of raising $18,000 will cover the employment at minimum wage for youth to grow food this season, 2019.

Submissions Due Thursday, May 30, 2019 by 5pm

We’re happy to announce that this will be our first Pride event for the Sylvia Center! This is our first Sylvia Center Dragtopia & Variety Show for All Ages! The Juried Art Show will feature artists that focus on the inclusion, awareness, support, and acceptance of the LGBTTQQIAAP & Queer community, and can include any of the following with this theme in mind – pride, family, equality, transformation, community, & love. The opening night of the art show will be held during the Bellingham Downtown Art Walk on July 5th, 6-9pm. There’s also the Dragtopia & Variety Show for All Ages – performance on Wednesday, July 10th, 7:30pm with auditions in May, TBD.

This show also promotes art organizations and facilities that incorporate inclusion and community for all genders, race, creed, religion, race, and backgrounds, in their facilities and programs. This will be the first Sylvia Pride event and will provide an entertaining array of events, such as Dragtopia & Variety Show for all ages on Wednesday, July 10th, raising funds for the Queer Youth Project with Northwest Youth Services, as well as hosting a strong program of educational workshops, speakers, panel discussions, and exhibit.

We invite Exhibiting artists, Performers, Presenters & Class Instructors with a passion for art created with the Queer & Pride theme to become a part of the first Pride event for Sylvia Center for the Arts. Attendees are inspired to take home innovative ideas that recognize the value of an all-inclusive group who support the Queer community.
