Lummi Nation School will host its annual First Salmon Ceremony on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the school campus, located at 2334 Lummi View Drive.
Hosted by the Class of 2026, this year’s ceremony centers on the theme “Care for Mind, Body, and Spirit,” reflecting a holistic approach to wellness and community connection. The event is a meaningful cultural tradition that brings together students, families, and community members to honor the significance of the first salmon and its role in sustaining the people.
The First Salmon Ceremony also serves as the culminating senior project for graduating students. As part of this experience, each senior takes on a role aligned with their personal interests and future career goals. Through planning and participation, students develop real-world skills while contributing to an event that benefits the broader community.
The event will include student-led activities, cultural teachings, and opportunities for community engagement. Community members are encouraged to attend and support the Class of 2026 as they present their work and celebrate this important milestone.
The First Salmon Ceremony is hosted in partnership with Lummi Natural Resources, with support from community partners including Silver Reef Casino Resort, the Lummi Indian Business Council, Lummi Behavioral Health, and Lummi TERO.
