Get Outside Fun Run 5K Kicks off the New Year for Local Runners

Skagit Runners, a local nonprofit running organization, will host the 2nd Annual Get Outside Fun Run 5K on Saturday, January 24, 2026, inviting runners and walkers of all ages to kick off the new year with movement, community, and purpose.

Designed as a welcoming, family-friendly event, the Get Outside Fun Run begins and ends at True North Bakery in Burlington, taking participants along the scenic Port of Skagit Trails. The 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. and is open to runners, walkers, and families looking for an accessible and meaningful way to stay active during the winter months.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County, supporting youth programs that promote confidence, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles throughout the community. As one of the few January running events in Skagit Valley, the Get Outside Fun Run offers a feel-good way to start the year while giving back locally.

“We’re excited to bring this event back for a second year and give our community a fun, positive way to kick off the new year,” said Kiera Wright, President of Skagit Runners. “The Get Outside Fun Run is about more than just the miles – it’s about starting the year on a healthy note, showing up for our community, and supporting programs that make a real difference for local kids.”

Online registration is open and includes a FREE race t-shirt for the first 150 participants with a price increase for day of race registration.
