Submitted by Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County
Demonstrating their support for the mission and the role of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County (BGCWC) in providing a safe, positive, and nurturing place for kids, Skeers Construction, Inc. and Bellingham Millwork Supply Co. is donating $200 and $100 respectively per house sold in their new home construction project at Lincoln Park Place in Blaine.
Dick Skeers, president, of Skeers Construction, Inc. and Dick Campbell, president, of Bellingham Millwork Supply Co. are longtime advocates for youth in Whatcom County. “I believe in the power of the Club’s academic, character development, and healthy meals programs and the positive impact they have on children” says Dick Skeers. “Particularly in a small community, and during these uncertain times, the Club is a crucial resource for families” says Dick Campbell.
When complete, Lincoln Park Place, located on “D” street, will consist of seventeen one and two-story open concept plan homes. The neighborhood has direct trail access to Lincoln Park, and is just one mile from downtown Blaine and the marina. It is the perfect setting for retirees, new families, and people looking for less home maintenance. For more information, contact Stacy Albright 425-478-8101 at Skeers Construction.
BGCWC was founded in 1946 with the mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Club in Blaine is open to all youth age 6-18. BGCWC knows that kids who are involved in positive youth development activities during out-of-school time will be less likely to drop out of school, participate in crime or use drugs and alcohol. Instead, they are far more likely to graduate from high school prepared for college and/or a career, with healthy, positive coping skills.
