Whatcom County Health Department (WCHD) and Whatcom Unified Command (WUC) are partnering with Northwest Laboratory and the City of Bellingham to increase access to COVID-19 testing in Whatcom County. On Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, they will pilot a new, low-barrier, drive-through testing facility at the Civic Field Athletic Complex in Bellingham.

This testing facility will be able to serve residents with or without insurance, and you will not need a referral from your healthcare provider to be tested.

“Opening an additional, low-barrier, drive-through testing facility in Whatcom County will open up new capacity to test individuals for COVID-19,” said Whatcom County Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach. “This model will also make it easier for people to access testing without the need for a referral from their healthcare provider.”

More details about the facility will be made available later this week.

Case counts are rising in our county and across the state, and increased access to testing allows us to better contain the virus and reduce the spread. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, please get tested. Remember to do your part, and wash your hands, wear your mask, maintain six feet between yourself and others, and stay home when sick.
