County Executive Sidhu continues to work closely with elected officials and department heads to determine essential staffing levels and to ensure the health and safety of both our staff and the public. Whatcom County is committed to sustaining the highest possible level of service for all our citizens during this COVID-19 outbreak.

Many County offices can provide essential services through web services, email, and telephone without the need for citizens to have to come to our offices. The County Executive has requested that elected officials and department heads identify essential public services and how best to provide those services during this unprecedented challenge. Consistent with our message of “Plan, Prepare, Don’t Panic,” Whatcom County anticipates limiting as many in-person services as possible starting the opening of business on Wednesday, March 18.

As we transition to this type of access for County services, please plan and prepare accordingly if you were anticipating a visit to County Offices in the near future. We will be posting our public service hours and contact information soon. There will always be staff available in their offices from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., even if doors are not open to the public.

We recognize this is a challenging time for all, and we remain deeply committed to the safety of our customers, teams, and communities. We will continue to communicate any service adjustments to you, monitor developments, and do our part, along with you, to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Additional details will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
