Unity Care NW (UCNW), a Federally Qualified Community Health Center serving Whatcom County, announced today that its Board of Directors has chosen Jodi Joyce and the organizations’ next Chief Executive Officer. Joyce, who currently serves as Associate Vice Chancellor for Quality & Patient Safety; Chief Quality Officer at University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics, will succeed Desmond Skubi the agency’s current CEO at the end of January 2020.
“After thorough succession planning and a comprehensive search process which included multiple community partners and staff, the board is pleased to have found the best individual to assume leadership of this growing organization,” said Mel De Jong, UCNW Board Chair. “Jodi has a proven track record and has helped transform health care across the country. This, combined with her deep knowledge of health care and nursing background, makes Jody uniquely qualified to lead UCNW successfully into the future.”
The selection of Joyce caps a search process facilitated by LuAnn Carlson, Partner at Corporate Strategies and Development an executive search firm. UNCW staff and board and community partner agencies provided feedback that directed the CEO Position Profile, and ultimately the board decision. A large initial prospect pool was narrowed by steps to a group who interviewed with the board’s CEO selection committee, and then to a final round who met with staff and the board.
“Jodi is the best choice from a deep pool of interested and highly qualified candidates,” said Chris Phillips, a community member of UCNW’s CEO Recruitment Committee. “She is a successful and transformative health systems executive. More importantly, she will be a good fit for UCNW and Whatcom County. We are delighted she has accepted the position.”
