The Rite Aid Foundation awarded a $20,000 KidCents Regional grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County to support the Healthy Meals program.
The KidCents Regional Grant Program, which provides grants of $15,000-$30,000, funds specific out-of-school time programs focused on children’s nutrition, physical fitness and academic success.
“The Rite Aid Foundation is committed to being a caring neighbor and making meaningful differences for the children wo live in the communities we serve,” said Tracy Henderson, director of The Rite Aid Foundation and charitable giving initiatives. “The Regional grant Program significantly expands the reach and impact of our KidsCent program, while enabling our partner organizations to provide critical out-of-school time programs that are vital for keeping children on track for future success.”
“We are immensely grateful for the tremendous support of The Rite Aid Foundation in helping us sustain our Healthy Meals program,” said Heather Powell, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County. “In 2018, we served more than 55,000 nutritious meals and snacks to hundreds of hungry kids in our community. With the strong partnership of The Rite Aid Foundation, we can impact even more youth in our community.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County was founded in 1946 with the mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The Clubs serve a membership of 4,000 kids age 6 – 18 countywide.
