The Whatcom Food Network invites all organizations and individuals interested in our local food system to the Spring Forum, a free event on May 16th from 2:00—5:00pm, at the Squalicum Boathouse.

Every year the Network holds two forums to increase awareness of work being done in our food system and to create a connecting point for organizations working in our food system to come together, network, and discuss important topics.

This spring, the Forum will explore what’s happening with local food and where we are headed. Learn about what is working when it comes to eating local, for both individuals and institutions, and what happens when local, healthy food access isn’t available. We’ll dive into one solution, with Bellingham Public Schools, that addresses the economic, physical, and cultural barriers to one of Whatcom County’s most important demographics—our children! Leave with action items, tools, and resources you can use in your organization and home so we can all eat for a healthy future.

Forum presenters include Patrick Durgan and Jessica Sankey from Bellingham Public Schools, Sara Southerland from Sustainable Connections, Holly O’Neil from the Whatcom Anti-hunger Coalition, and Ali Jensen from the Whatcom County Department of Health.

Please join us for a morning of connecting and learning! Refreshments and delicious snacks from the Community Food Co-op will be provided. This event is free, though registration is required. This event is made possible by generous support from the Whatcom Community Foundation.
