The Pacific Biodiversity Institute is pleased to invite you to our second PBI Conservation Café, a monthly venue for provocative environmental films and paradigm-shifting discussions. September’s café celebrates salmon, by way of examining the significance of the watersheds they inhabit. We will be showing two award-winning short films set in the Northwest showcasing communities rallying around their local watersheds.
This event is free for all, with a suggested donation for those who feel so inclined. Boundary Bay will have delicious beer on tap for purchase, and snacks will be provided free of charge. All ages welcome. Following the two short films, all are welcome to join a discussion about the significance of our own local watersheds, the future of Salmon in our region and how we can work together going forward,

Have you ever wondered about some of the history behind the writing of classical music or the different ways to listen to classical music? Well your opportunity is on June 27 at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen, 601 W Holly Street, Bellingham at 7:00 p.m. Members of the Whatcom symphony have partnered with Chuckanut and will be on hand to talk and play classical music for those that attend. This event will repeat the last Wednesday of each month throughout the summer.
Several members of the symphony will talk about their love of classical music, how and why they became musicians, the history of the pieces they will play and more info related to classical music. Whatcom Symphony has been around for four decades and is comprised of over 80 volunteer musicians performing in the Bellingham community eight times a year! There will also be an opportunity to join in the raffle to raise funds for the symphony during the evening. Prizes will include Chuckanut schwag and tickets for some of the symphony concerts. No reservations required, the event will take place in Chuckanut’s back covered patio where food and beverages will be available for purchase. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend!
