Pearl Django with Gail Pettis @ Jansen Art Center
Feb 9 @ 7:30 pm

Back by popular demand, Pearl Django and their masterful gypsy jazz returns to the Jansen Art Center’s Chamber Hall on Saturday, February 9.

According to the Seattle Weekly, Pearl Django plays “with such verve, skill and pleasure that they’re pretty much irresistible to jazz and non-jazz listeners alike.”

The band’s signature style is marked by pristine and dexterous string work, colors of Bal Musette, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities. Although the band’s roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, its extensive repertoire includes traditional jazz classics and original compositions.

Throughout the years, Pearl Django has cultivated a devoted and enthusiastic following and they continue to play to packed houses. With a performance history spanning more than two decades, Pearl Django endures as one of the most highly regarded Hot Club style groups working today.

Pearl Django has performed at festivals, dances, and nightspots throughout the U.S. and abroad. They have played at the prestigious Festival Django Reinhardt in Samois sur Seine and have been featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered”. Joined by Gail Pettis, vocalist, are Pearl Django musicians: Tim Lerch, Guitar; Jim Char, Guitar; David Lange, Accordion; Michael Gray, Violin; Rick Leppanen, Bass.

Tickets are $25.00 and are available at the Jansen Art Center or online at www.jansenartcenter.org.

Sunday at 3 Young Artist Concert Series @ Jansen Art Center
Feb 10 @ 3:00 pm

The Jansen Art Center is pleased to present Sunday at 3, our Young Artist Concert Series.
Produced by local music instructor, Jeri Mercer, Sunday at 3 is designed as a program to allow young, semi-professional artists to perform work showcasing the advancement of their skills. “We hope to apply the talent slowly acquired alone, in the practice room, to the real world of the community, a live audience who will respond and encourage these young people,” says Mercer.
Sunday at 3 is a family-friendly concert series, and students and families are encouraged to attend. Admission to Sunday at 3 is by donation. All donations help the Jansen Art Center continue its youth programs such as Sunday at 3 and Kids Do Art! Spring Break (coming April 2-4). For more information, visit www.jansenartcenter.org.
