PFLAG Bellingham/Whatcom and Geneva Elementary School are hosting this free community showing of National Geographic’s “Gender Revolution with Katie Couric” on Thursday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the school. This 1.5 hour film is a comprehensive and empathetic introduction to the issues facing transgender people and their families, friends and allies. The film is recommended for age 12 and up by National Geographic. A panel will tell their stories briefly and answer questions after the film. Katie Couric asks all the questions you want to ask…come hear the answers!!

PFLAG Skagit and PFLAG Bellingham/Whatcom are hosting a FREE showing of National Geographic’s “Gender Revolution with Katie Couric” Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon. This one and a half hour film is a comprehensive and empathetic introduction to the issues facing transgender people and their families. Katie Couric asks all the questions you want to ask…come hear the answers! National Geographic recommends the film for age 12 and older. We will have a panel to tell their stories and answer questions after the film.

This comical-musical-cult-classic, written by, directed by and starring John Cameron Mitchell, stars a transgender punk-rock gal from East-Berlin who tours the U.S. with her band. The story of her life, exploring complex gender identity and how that interacts with societal perceptions, unfolds as Hedwig follows her former lover/band-mate, who stole her songs.

This movie is rated R for sexual content and language.

In partnership with Northwest Youth Services, PFLAG Whatcom invites you to celebrate Trans Day of Visibility with us. From 3:00-5:00 pm NWYS Queer Youth Project will be hosting the Trans Treasury Fashion Pop-up and local art vendors will be selling their art. From 6:00-8:00 pm, we will have a photo booth, community art piece, and Q & A panel. This event is free to attend but registration is required to attend the Q & A panel.
