Opening Reception: ‘Bugs N Things’ @ Tillie Lace Gallery and School of Fine Art

Tillie Lace Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition of works by local artists from Bellingham and Seattle featuring depictions of bugs, birds, and other fabulous “things.” The “Bugs N Things” group show will run from September 4, 2016 – September 29, 2016 with an opening reception on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 4:00-7:30 PM.

Eleven artists will be featured in the show: Cooper Lanza, Michellino, Allison Moody (Seattle), Nancy Canyon, V. Mazzola, Eli Lara, Ron Pattern, Cara Jay, Terry Nelson, Amy Gould, and Emily Pickering (Seattle). All of the works are inspired by insects and the natural environment.

The gallery is located at 1415 13th St in Fairhaven. Tillie Lace Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM – Tel. 1-360-223-5352.

Opening Reception, May 4, 5:30-7:00pm

The Jansen Art Center welcomes the 2017 visual arts exhibit: “Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Student Art,” on display at the J from May 4 through 26, 2017. The Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. There is a special early performance for Live Music in the Piano Lounge featuring the local teen band, Rockin’ 7.

Established in 1997 at the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, Promising Futures: Whatcom County High School Student Art showcases artwork of students from across the county.

The show provides dedicated, aspiring high school artists a chance to display their work in a fine arts gallery. The exhibit includes drawings, paintings, ceramics and digital art.

Schools represented in this year’s exhibit include Bellingham, Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden, Lynden Christian, Meridian, Mount Baker, Options, Sehome and Squalicum.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Thursday, May 4 from 5:30-7:00pm to congratulate the young artists selected by their instructors to be included in this exhibit, and to enjoy live music from area teen musicians.

Opening Reception for Fall 2017 Exhibits at the Jansen Art Center @ Jansen Art Center

The Jansen Art Center would like to invite you to the Opening Reception for our Fall exhibits on September 7, which includes the 2017 Fall Juried Exhibit, “Fibers & Beyond” from the Whatcom Weavers Guild and “Illusions and other Still Life: Paintings by Rob Gischer.” The reception will feature a Live Music in the Piano Lounge performance by artist Anissa, with accompaniment by Erik Snyder. The Opening Reception will be free for the public, will run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and will be a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists to discuss their work. The exhibits will be on display at the Jansen Art Center from September 7 through December 2, 2017. We hope to see you there!

The Jansen Art Center is proud to present the 3rd Annual Falling Out of the Box jewelry exhibit, titled “Holding Space,” on display from October 12 through December 1, 2017. The Opening Reception will take place on Thursday, October 12 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., featuring a Live Music in the Piano Lounge performance by musician Checo Tohomaso. This will be the third year of the Falling Out of the Box jewelry challenge, coordinated once again by Judith Gauthier. Guests will be invited to vote for their favorite entry for the People’s Choice Awards from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony occurring at 7:45 p.m. We hope to see you there!
