Creator of the original Star Wars Ships is appearing at Comics Place Sunday Aug 19. The presentation will take place at 11:00 a.m.

Colin Cantwell is the original concept artist and modeler for all things that flew in the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope. His designs include the X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Death Star, Star Destroyer, original Millennium Falcon, Y-Wing and others.

Colin will give a free presentation featuring exclusive videos describing his interaction with George Lucas and his work on Star Wars. Also featured will be an audience choice of videos showing some of his other iconic projects including his work on 2001, A Space Odyssey and War Games, as well as his being the Hal 9000 Computer that fed Walter Cronkite the progress of the Apollo 11 moon landing as Walter was broadcasting on live TV in 1969. This will be followed by an opportunity for fans to meet Colin, ask questions and share stories.

Autographs will be on sale for $25 and include a free 8×12 print of either his original 1974 Star Wars concept art or his 1975 photos of the first Star Wars models.

May the 4th Be with Max Higbee | Star Wars Trivia Night @ Stemma Brewing Company

Join us at a Brewery in a galaxy not that far, far away for a night of Star Wars trivia and supporting the pillar in our town that is the Max Higbee Center!

Our goal is to raise as much money as we can for their programs, so they can continue to make an amazing here in Bellingham. We’ll be hosting the event at Stemma Brewing located in the Roosevelt Neighborhood and our friends over at Sweet As Waffles will be curating a Star Wars-inspired waffle just for the event.

Here’s what you need to know:

-The Sitch with Trivia!-
*Trivia Entry Fee: $10 per person
*For Trivia Teams, you can have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6!
–>Ex. A team of 6 is $60, a team of 3 is $30, etc.
–>Each team will be given a single trivia sheet to be filled out and turned in for scoring.

-Payment for This Event-

*You can pay one of three ways:
–>PayPal prior to the event
–>Cash/Check when you check-in the day of.

Be sure to check your confirmation email for further instructions on the payment methods mentioned above.

-Are There Prizes? – Yes!-

*All entry fees will be 100% donated to the Max Higbee Center, meaning you’ll be playing for a Star Wars-inspired Rebellion Winner’s Basket as the grand prize
*Throughout the event, we’ll have local giveaways as well for participants, including items like gift cards to local restaurants and merchandise from other local businesses.
*Dress code is casual, but if you want to have a little extra fun, Star Wars attire is encouraged and acceptable! (Yes, I’m looking at you and that awesome helmet, Mando.)

Who is the Max Higbee Center? They’re a local organization here in town with a mission to provide community-based recreation programs for teens and adults with developmental disabilities in three ways:

1. To provide opportunities for personal enjoyment and enrichment through a diverse range of leisure activities.
2. To promote the social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth and development of participants.
3. To assist participants to achieve greater independence in their lives and increased involvement in the community.


This event is a collaborated effort on behalf of the Cohen Group NW Teams at the Muljat Group Realtors and our venue for the night, Stemma Brewing Company.
