The Brigadoon Beer, Blues and Jazz festival is an all-day festival featuring four live bands, and will feature tasting from up to thirty local breweries and microbreweries. Every ticket sale goes to benefit Brigadoon Service Dogs, and Growing Veterans, local nonprofits that work to help veterans who return from active duty.
The fourth Wednesday of every month Marcel will be introducing new genres to beginning improvisers. This class is aimed at those that can already play their instruments but have never improvised a solo before. We’ll cover some basic theory of the monthly genre and some techniques you might use to solo in that genre concluding the class with a jam where all are encouraged to take turns soloing over a tune in a comfortable environment. June is Blues!

On Saturday, February 10, Laura Love brings her power-house voice and powerful presence to Bellingham after an absence of two decades. Love has played to rapt audiences around the globe and her recent return to the stage has been enthusiastically received from coast to coast. She felt “compelled to get back on the road, reach out to other human beings and spread kindness.” Love’s music is not only keen and kind, it energizes and empowers audiences in a way that is nothing short of unique.
Love’s music is wide-ranging and impossible to contain in any one genre. Acoustic Guitar Magazine writes: “…highly original style she calls Afro-Celtic: an improbable but irresistible hybrid of hip-grinding rhythms and folk melodies, electric funk bass and Appalachian-inflected vocals … It’s a new sound, for sure, but one that clearly shows its roots, making the band equally welcome in rock clubs and on bluegrass/Americana stages …”
Laura Love will be accompanied by master guitarist, Terry Hunt. The concert will take place at 1207 Ellsworth Street at the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. The concert is sponsored by BUF’s Social and Environmental Justice Group.
Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers is a Seattle band that’s been performing along the US West Coast for six years, with three albums to its credit that have received international radio airplay. Their song “Trouble” recently won the Grand Prize in the John Lennon songwriting competition. The band is fun and funky – bring your dancing shoes!
LA Music Critic said: “There is nothing like a good solid blues rhythm coupled with an amazing female voice that understands the true sound of the blues. Michele D’Amour and the Love Dealers have definitely learned those lessons, and turn in a worthy performance on this song of solid tunes that should be a case study for anyone interested in studying the art of the blues. They understand that there are different grooves for great blues music and they have mastered all of those styles… they bring an authenticity to their sound not normally heard by today’s modern blues bands.”
Party alongside this duo chosen by Dan Aykroyd, Judith Belushi and Musical Director Paul Shaffer to continue the Blues Brothers’ mission with “infectious and unbridled energy,” according to the Chicago Sun Times. Backed by the Intercontinental Rhythm & Blues Band, The Official Blues Brothers Revue combines the humor and mayhem from the original movie with songs that comprise a virtual encyclopedia of rock, blues and soul. Expect a flashy concert experience and classics such as “Soul Man,” “Gimme Some Lovin,” “Shout” and more. Great for all ages!

Matthew presents a family-friendly program of Piano-Song-Boogie-n-Blues favorites from 20s, 30s and 40s with arrangements of classic American songs like Ain’t Misbehavin, When the Saints Go Marchin In, Careless Love, Basin Street Blues, You Are my Sunshine, It Had to be You, Glory of Love, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, Bumble Boogie, The Entertainer and more!

Erin Corday Cinematic Folk & Americana She wraps her voice around a trip?hop folk song, a Brazilian classic, even the sound of skipping stones across the water. Of Mexican, Icelandic, and Swedish ancestry, Erin Corday is an American singer and songwriter who brings a love of epic quest, emotional depth, lyrical imagery, and imagination to subtly dynamic performances.
Tret Fure began her career at the age of 16, singing in coffeehouses and campuses in the Midwest. At 19, she moved to LA in hopes of obtaining a record deal. Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis, touring with him and penning the single for his album “Mousetrap”. She went on to record her own album “Tret Fure” in 1973, on MCA/UNI Records, with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release, she opened for such bands as Yes, Poco, and the J Geils Band. A prolific artist in the contemporary singer-songwriter arena, Tret Fure has released 17 albums and CDs over the course of her 51 year career.
Fay Eiford was born and raised right here in Bellingham Washington. She has had a passion for music since she can remember. Ever since she was 3 years old, Eiford has been a performer. Singing and dancing her way around the hardwood kitchen floors, she grew up in the spotlight. Now at 20 years old, she is performing original songs on the hardwood floor of a stage.

Blues and roots singer, The Reverend Shawn Amos, is an exhilarating entertainer whose performances are filled with the foot-stomping, call-and-response energy of 1960s’ Chicago blues shows. The son of music agent-turned entrepreneur, Wally “Famous” Amos and R&B nightclub singer, Shirlee May, Amos was raised in 1970s Los Angeles watching musical legends like Marvin Gaye and Quincy Jones at work. Amos began releasing a series of semi-autobiographical albums in the 1990s. Exploring, chronicling, and preserving black American music led him to the American blues songbook and a commitment to keeping this great American art form alive.
Just as he has on stages throughout the world, The Rev leaves a lot on the floor: the breath into the bullet microphone, the laughter, the fret buzz, the defiant foot stomp – everything reverberating in a spirit-filled space, offering soul sustenance as only a well-crafted song can. Joining The Rev on stage are Christopher Thomas (bass) and Doctor Roberts (guitar).
